With a Linux host, sometimes for some reason, Windows drag and drop randomly stops working, even though the drag and drop is enabled in the VM, and even though the guest-utils are still installed and running in the VM. I find this usually fixes it: Reinstall or update the guest-utils driver within Windows and restart. Usually/hopefully that fixes it. I was using a small box as a router and one of the ports started going off and coming back at 100M. I truly believe it is simply that it was a case of overheating. Although CPUtemps were only about 67 degrees, the physical box itself was almost burning hot. Isolved the cooling issue and never had the issue again.
